West Nipissing Community Health Centre
April 23, 2026
Ontario Health recently approved an increase in base funding for the West Nipissing Community Health Centre (WNCHC) to enhance its adult day program. The WNCHC will receive one-time funding of $25,000 for the 2025-26 fiscal year, and annualized funding of $113,050 effective April 1st, 2026. This enhanced support will allow the WNCHC to broaden the scope of the Older Adults Staying in Shape (OASIS) program and increase availability for older adults.
The OASIS program provides social engagement, congregate dining, physical activity and support for older adults living in West Nipissing. The program offers a safe and supportive environment where participants enjoy engaging activities, build community connections and maintain independence, while caregivers benefit from respite.
“This investment allows us to address operational pressures due to rising costs and demand for our program, as well as enhance offerings, and improve access for individuals in need of social interaction and engagement in the community.” says Guy Robichaud, Executive Director at the WNCHC.
“Programs like OASIS make a real difference in people’s lives” says Renée Vaillancourt, Director of the Community Health Program. “This program brings people together, reducing social isolation, promoting health and wellbeing and provides a space where people feel safe, valued and connected. We are proud to play a role in strengthening our community in such a meaningful and impactful way.”
The OASIS program currently serves 70 participants on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The team works closely with families, caregivers and healthcare providers to ensure a coordinated circle of care approach. The program will now operate on Tuesdays, serving up to 35 additional individuals.
